Bag snatchers in Bali seem to be getting more tricky with their methods by the day.
A French student was the victim of what appears to be a sophisticated bag-snatching op on Sunset Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The woman had been driving around 2 am on Sunset Road back to her villa in the Jl. Nakula area when a man on motorbike tried to grab her bag and caused her to fall, reports Tribun Bali.
The man did not manage to get her bag. Moments later, a stranger approached the French woman, helping her up after she fell from her bike, according to Tribun’s report.
“While guarding her bag, the victim fell. At the time, the items in the bag of the victim were strewn out across the road. A man approached and helped her pick up her stuff,” Tribun Bali quoted an unidentified police source as saying on Sunday.
But by “helping,” the man apparently took some of the items that had fallen out her bag, without her noticing. It’s alleged that the two men targeting the woman were working together.
The alleged crime was reported to Kuta Police.
Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Insp. Ario Seno Wimoko confirmed the case to Tribun Bali and said police are still investigating the incident.
