Some of Asia’s best surfers paddled out at Bali’s famous Kuta Beach this past weekend for the final round of the initial leg of the REnexttop Asian Surfing Tour 2018.
The first tour stop wrapped up on Saturday with shoartboard winners Oney Anwar from Indonesia in men’s and Chelsea Tuach from Barbados in women’s.
Anwar faced off with fellow Indonesian and repeat rival Rio Waida, whom he had also claimed victory over in the World Surf League 2018 Krui Pro in Sumatra just last month.
While Tuach took down Dhea Natasya in the Indonesian’s homebreak.
Sliding to victory were Philippines’ Jessah ‘Aping’ Agudo for the women’s longboarding division and Indonesia’s Ariep ‘Mencos’ Nurhidayat for the men’s.
Agudo came out ahead of fellow Filipina lady slider Daisy Valdez for the win:
Whereas the men’s final came down to a battle between Batu Karas loggers ‘Mencos’ and Deni Firdaus:
Over the course of the event at Halfway in Kuta, a total of 105 surfers competed from a number of countries, including Australia, China, the US, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Russia.
Following the Bali stop will be legs in Thailand in July, Japan in September, and the final round in China in November.
