Fire devours three shops in Kedonganan on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai, local residents fight flames before trucks arrive

Even though it was raining like nuts on Tuesday down in Jimbaran, yesterday turned out to be prime condition for a fire. 

Flames engulfed three rukos (shops) in Kelan, Kedonganan on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai, Wednesday afternoon. 

One of the shops selling furniture apparently had a lot of wood, which only made it easier for the fire to burn faster. 

Based on observations from trending photos and local newspaper Tribun Bali at the fire, much of the major road, the bypass, was gridlocked, making it difficult for fire trucks to make their way to the scene. 

Fortunately residents responded quickly, using hoses to access tap water and at least try to keep the flames under control until the trucks could make it to the site. 

The full extent of the damage from the fire has not yet been reported on. We hope too many people didn’t miss their flights from the big traffic jam!
