Denpasar ‘Run for Unity’ 10K to target 10,000 participants

A run to commemorate Indonesian Independence in Bali’s capital Denpasar is looking to go big this year.

The Bali International 10K, “A Run for Unity” is loping to attract 10,000 participants this time around, says the race’s chairman, Anak Agung Gede Agung. That’s even more than the Bali International Marathon, which had over 7,000 participants in its 2016 event.

The 10K run will start in Renon at the Bajra Sandhi Monument and is slated to take place on Aug. 20, 2017, the Sunday following Independence Day (Aug. 17).

The race will promote tourism in Denpasar, Agung said in a meeting with Denpasar Mayor Rai Mantra on Wednesday, reported Bisnis Bali. Running is becoming an increasingly popular sport in Bali and the race will be taking advantage of that.
