Body of drowned East Java man found at Double-Six Beach hours after death

Another unfortunate drowning death was reported in South Bali over the weekend.

A 22-year-old man from East Java was reportedly swept away by the current to his death on Saturday when he was swimming at Double Six Beach, Legian.

Drowning victim Ahmad Taufik was apparently visiting the beach for the first time since newly starting work in Bali about a month ago. The Probolinggo man was accompanied by three friends who also worked with him as contractors in the Seminyak area.

According to his friend Kamil, 18, Taufik did not know how to swim and was dragged out by the current in front of popular restaurant La Plancha. Kamil says the conditions didn’t seem too wild at the beach yesterday, but rather normal.

Taufik’s body was finally found on Sunday morning by a couple of project workers in front of Zanzibar restaurant and evacuated to Sanglah Hospital by Search and Resuce (Basarnas).

“When we found him, the condition of the victim was face-down, wearing only underwear. His had was facing south towards the sea. Taufik had abdominal bloating, caused by the penetration of a lot of sea water it seems,” Susanto, one of the project workers who found the body said, as quoted by Tribun Bali
