Bali met its goal of 4 million foreign tourists in 2015

Last year, Bali’s New Year’s resolution was to get four million foreign tourists to the island.

Based on a count from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Bali, that goal was met, with a little excess: there was as many as 4,001,835, reports Tribun Bali.

The number is up from Bali’s goal of 3.5 million tourists in 2014.

That last push during the holiday season in December is what appears to have made all the difference, as 370,640 foreign tourists arrived in 2015’s final month.

According to Adi Nugroho, BPS Bali head, foreign tourist arrivals went up by 36.80 percent from November to December 2015.

By nationality, the most foreign tourists to Bali in December 2015 were from Australia (24.31 percent), China (12.54 percent), Malaysia (5.96 percent), Singapore (5.60 percent), and Japan (5.49 percent).
