Bali ex-cop arrested over alleged drug dealing

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) says that they have arrested a drug dealer in Bali who is an ex-cop.

Officers from BNN Badung Regency and Bali Province arrested IWM, alias Lengkong, 40, in his boarding house in Padangsampian, Denpasar.

Lengkong, originally from Gerokgak, north Bali, had served at the Bali Police Integrated Services Center (IFMS), but was fired in 2015 for ditching his duties as a police officer (desertion), according to reports.

BNN agents were apparently made aware of Lengkong from a public tip. When officers arrived at the kos, they say they saw the suspect toss something into the garden.

“When questioned, the suspect admitted that the ‘stuff’ was the illegal drug, methamphetamine,” BNN Bali Province Director Brig. I Putu Gede Suastawa said in Denpasar on Tuesday, as quoted by Tribun Bali

From the arrest, BNN officers confiscated evidence in the form of 19 packages of meth, weighing 13.05 grams.

During Lengkong’s time as a dealer, the ex-cop would move very often, always changing where he was living, police say.

“This was his strategy, to always switch from one kos to another,” BNN Badung Regency Director Commr. Ni Ketut Masmini said.

Through Lengkong, BNN says it caught eight different drug ‘customers.’ No physical evidence was found on the ‘customers,’ but drug tests came back positive for meth use, according to BNN.

BNN is still investigating the ‘customers,’ to determine whether they are just users or also dealers, Suastawa said.
