An alleged burglar was arrested in Nusa Dua, Bali, but only after some old fashioned Indonesian vigilantism.

Martinus Vivied Andrian, 40, was battered by an angry mob but ‘rescued’ by police who stepped in and hauled him off before the beating turned fatalsomething which does happen from time to time in Bali.

Police say the Nganjuk, East Java native has been on their wanted list for awhile for targeting and burglarizing empty houses.

“The perpetrator has been playing this for a long time, we have been after him for about a year,” South Kuta Police Commissioner Wayan Latra told Tribun Bali on Wednesday.

“He would go into empty houses by prying open a window,” Latra said.

On Tuesday night, Andrian had been spotted in action by local residents in a housing complex in Kori Nuansa. Things quickly escalated as a group started to form to attack the man, but luckily for him, South Kuta Police came to the scene to bring him in to custody.
