Badung official makes a stink over smelly fish waste in Kedonganan, Bali

Head of Badung regency’s department for animal husbandry, Made Badra says all the fish waste spilling onto the beach from Pelabuhan Pendaratan Ikan (PPI), the wharf in Kedonganan, sucks. Or rather, stinks. Literally.

And this is not the first we’ve seen (or actually smelt) of this issue, Badra told Tribun Bali from his office on Monday.

But Badra says the management of the wharf continually ignores his complaints and criticism.

“This is not the first time. We have appealed repeatedly,” he told Tribun.

He explained that the management of the wharf and all its assets in Kedonganan are not the responsibility of the Badung regency government.

There is a MoU between the government and the traditional village, that the village would self-manage the wharf, while infrastructure revenues would go directly to the local village for building ports, the fish market, etc, according to Badra.
