Another day, another report of tourists doing something strange in the streets of Bali. Yesterday, a video captured an Australian tourist dancing and shouting from the second floor of a house in Kuta, allegedly while threatening that he would jump to the streets. Authorities suspect he might be depressed.

The tourist, who has been identified by his initial J by local media, appears to have lowered his pants as he moves his hands around in the video, which has gone viral.

“This foreign tourist kept on shouting, and he threatened he will jump from the second floor to the streets. The owner of the house then contacted the head of the neighborhood and reported the matter to the Kuta Police,” First Inspector Ika Prabawa from the Kuta Police said, as reported by state news agency Antara.

The incident took place yesterday morning and it started with J looking to meet the son of the homeowner, identified as Nyoman Patra, who was apparently away at the time. J and Patra have known each other for the past five years, Antara reported.

While he was there, J reportedly started acting weird and talking to himself. At one point, he even started hitting the table in the house. Not long after, J climbed up to the second floor of the house, where he started yelling and threatening to jump.

Ika told Antara that authorities arrived at the scene soon after and they proceeded to take J into custody and bring him to the local Community Health Center (Puskesmas). He was later escorted to the Sanglah General Hospital to undergo further examination.

“For the time being, we suspect that the tourist is depressed,” Ika said.
