An American national was reportedly arrested in Bali last week at a post office in Kuta, when trying to retrieve a package containing hashish.

Though it happened last week, the National Narcotics Agency Bali Province (BNNP) just announced the arrest today.

The 32-year-old, identified by his initials “CB”, attempted to claim the package on August 1 at a post office on Sunset Road when he was nabbed by BNNP.

The package, which had been marked from the sender as “pick-up at post office” had been flagged since arriving in Indonesia, so officers were monitoring it, waiting for someone to take it, says BNNP Superintendent Ketut Arta.

“In the package, there was narcotics inside, hashish type, weighing 5.71 grams,” Arta said in Denpasar on Thursday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.

Arta says BNNP has launched an investigation looking into the origins of the package and the network in which it came from, while CB remains in BNNP custody.

The agency has not yet announced which charges CB would face.

Just in June 2017, a Singaporean DJ was sentenced to 11 years behind bars by a Bali court for a much larger scale mail-in drug scheme, involving 122 grams of cocaine.
