An amateur video posted to YouTube captures the chaotic aftermath on Sunday evening of the collapse of the Yellow Bridge in Klungkung, Bali.
It’s hard to see much because it was already dark out when the video was taken, but you can make out people evacuating the water and coming to shore and of course, pick up the heart-wrenching sounds of shock and panic.
The video was posted to YouTube yesterday by Indonesian channel “Karis Jawara” and has gotten over 7,000 views, as of Monday evening.
Eight people were killed during the tragic incident and over 30 were injured. The bridge had been overloaded when people were using it to cross after a religious ceremony.
Police are currently investigating the collapse.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this post put the death count from the tragedy at nine, as originally reported by Reuters. However, following the commotion, village officials have clarified the amount of fatalities from the horrifying bridge collapse as eight.
