A family of four were reportedly found dead in their home in a case of alleged familicide in Bondalem Village, Buleleng, North Bali.

The Balinese family, including two parents and their two children, apparently died from consuming insect poison. The kids were aged seven and three.

Buleleng Police Superintendent Made Sukawijaya said that one of the couple’s relatives found the bodies early on Thursday morning. Sukawijaya says police have opened an investigation into the deaths.

Sprite was apparently mixed in the with poison, before the family drank it.

Relatives have refused an autopsy for the family and an external examination indicated no signs of violence, Tribun Bali reports.

The news comes about a week after a young Balinese couple committed a double suicide at Lake Batur.
