Police in Bali’s Buleleng regency have named 10 people as suspects, seven of whom are underage, for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl last month.

Authorities said the victim was raped multiple times on Oct. 11 and 12, and that the incident started after the victim asked for help from her boyfriend and now suspect, identified as DK, to buy gas.

DK then brought her to the house of another suspect, identified as ACT, where she was raped by three boys, including DK. Police said the victim stayed at ACT’s house that night, who raped her the next morning.

The tragic incident sadly did not end there, as a man arrived at the house at around 10am on Oct. 12 to rape her. This was followed by her rapists taking her to different locations that same day, where she was raped by other suspects.

“There was enough evidence, including the result of the medical examination and based on supporting statements from witnesses,” Buleleng Police Chief I Made Sinar Subawa said in a statement.

Police arrested the three adult suspects on Oct. 27, while the other seven teenage suspects are not in police custody because they are underage.

The suspects were each charged with the rape of a minor, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
