A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Central Java this morning, with tremors reportedly felt in parts of Bali. There have been no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.

The quake’s epicenter was 85 kilometers northwest of Jepara, Central Java, hitting at a depth of 578 kilometers at 6:54am, according to Indonesia’s Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).

Daryono, BMKG’s head of earthquake and tsunami mitigation division, said in a series of tweets posted shortly after the quake that the tremors had a vast reach due to the quake’s depth, adding that this was a “deep focus earthquake.”

No tsunami warning was issued.

The tremors were reportedly felt across Java and parts of southern Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara. In Bali, tremors were recorded in Kuta and Denpasar as well as Gianyar regency.
