An 18-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by five men in Bali’s Gianyar regency, who took her by force and threatened her with her naked photos to coerce her into having sex with them.
The suspects, identified as GA (25), CA (22), PR (41), AAGD (27), and GNAC (30), reportedly took turns raping the victim, identified as MA, when they were intoxicated following a drinking party on Friday night.
Laorens Rajamangapul Heselo, who heads the general crimes unit at the Gianyar precinct, said that MA was picked up by force by GA and CA — who she was friends with – from her workplace at a local minimarket, and she was later taken to a garden where the group was gathering.
“The suspect named GA threatened the victim: if she refused to have sex, then her naked photos will be spread on social media. Because she was scared, she agreed to what GA demanded,” Laorens said.
The next day, MA went to the police with her parents to file a report, and authorities promptly arrested GA and CA, while the other three reportedly turned themselves in.
Authorities said MA is still traumatized by the incident, and have been accompanied by her parents throughout the investigation process.
The suspects have been charged with rape under the criminal code (KUHP), which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
