3,800 police deployed to secure Interpol conference in Nusa Dua: Bali Police Chief

Bali has been crawling with more police than usual lately.

That’s because Nusa Dua is the host of an Interpol conference from November 7 to 10.

Bali Police Chief Insp. Gen. Sugeng Priyanto told media that extra security will be implemented starting on Thursday this week for the 85th Interpol General Assembly.

With amped up security, Bali police will be going all out, deploying 3,800 personnel for the conference, according to Priyanto.

“We’ve held a stimulation, we’ve carried it out under identical conditions,” Merdeka quoted Priyanto as saying on Wednesday.

Bali Police are not in this alone—they’re coordinating with national police, army, and pecalang.

“This is the first time it’s being held in Indonesia, so I’ve emphasized that security is not a problem to the police and military,” Priyanto added.

“There will be representatives from 190 countries around the world.”
