Two officers from Bali Police’s intelligence unit have reportedly been threatened with severe sanctions after they were caught red-handed, extorting a marijuana dealer.
Both officers were arrested on Saturday after they were exposed collecting a pay-off from the drug dealer by Propam (police internal affairs) at a KFC in Jimbaran, local reports said.
The intel officers had allegedly demanded Rp 70 million from the weed dealer, who made a counter offer of Rp 40 million, according to Tribun Bali.
Police Chief Commissioner Beny Arjanto, head of Propam Bali Police, said the two officers would be punished pending an internal police trial, which could apparently result in dishonorable discharge.
