An Australian expatriate died suddenly on Tuesday in Bali when he was electrocuted in a fish pond at his Sanur home.
Philip Henry Hyde, 67, had just been cleaning the fish pond at his house when the pond, apparently live with electricity, fatally electrocuted him. According to police, an electric cord had fallen into the pond.
Hyde’s girlfriend, Ida Priyanti, 25, found him collapsed in the pond when he shouted out in pain.
“We have examined the house and we did not find any suspicious things. Our preliminary investigation found that he was electrocuted. He was at the fish pond to clean it. Suddenly the electric plug fell into the pond and he was electrocuted,” South Denpasar Police chief, Nanang Prihasmoko said, as quoted by the News Corp Australia Network.
