Buleleng encompasses much of North Bali. It’s a bit of a drive to get to from the tourist-filled south, but it’s worth a trip if you can make it. The most famous spot with tourists in the northern regency is Lovina, popular for dolphin-watching. Menjangan Island of West Bali National Park is also another favorite tourist destination—though far from crowded. Buleleng’s got some of the best waterfalls in Bali, including Aling-Aling, Sekumpul, and Gitgit, so air-terjun chasers take note. There’s much hype of an airport being built in the north, so it’s unfortunately doubtful how long Buleleng will remain as calm and peaceful as it is.
