Bangli is one of Bali’s smaller regencies. It’s located more north and central on the island and is perhaps best known for Mt. Batur and Kintamani. Mt. Batur is a small active volcano with a summit that reaches 1,717 meters. Batur is said to be Bali’s most-trekked volcanoes and is well-known for sunrise hikes. To the west of Batur’s larger caldera is Kintamani, a village known for its impressive panoramic mountain views, fresh oranges, and breed of long-haired Bali dog. From Bangli’s Bukit Demulih (Demulih Hill), you can see Kuta, Nusa Dua, Gianyar, and some of Klungkung. Bangli regency’s seat carries the same name: Bangli. The population of the regency is 197,210 based on a 2004 census.
