Badung regency encompasses all of south Bali’s Bukit Peninsula and runs up north as a narrow strip all the way through the center of the island to Petang. The regency includes of most of Bali’s biggest tourist areas like Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Canggu, and Uluwatu. Ngurah International Airport is also in Tuban, which is located in the regency. As a results, the regency is one of Bali’s most densely populated and richest. Badung is basically like a sprawling city as the regency’s population has boomed in the past decade or so—though the further north you go in Badung, the thinner the population becomes. The regency’s population is put at 543,332 based on the 2010 census. The regency’s seat is located in Mangupura.
