As Bali gradually reopens to international tourists (with plans to erase quarantine in the middle of this month), event organizer Plainsong Live has announced the long-awaited debut of Joyland Festival on the Island of Gods. The three-day event is scheduled to take place at Taman Bhagawan in Nusa Dua, Bali on March 25-27.

Joyland Festival “technically debuted” in Bali two years ago but, due to the pandemic, the event was held online. The organizer mentioned that they have finally been greenlighted to organize the event for a live audience.

In 2019, Joyland Festival was held in Jakarta featuring performances from Ardhito Pramono and NAIF.

“We’ve been planning the festival in Bali for a long time. As Indonesia’s tourism destination, Bali has the infrastructure to accommodate quality shows with rich and progressive music scenes. Apart from Joyland Fest in Jakarta, we aim to hold Joyland Fest Bali annually,” said Ferry Dermawan, Joyland’s program and festival director, in a statement.

Confirmed performers including pop singers Raisa and Isyana Sarasvati, neo-soul band Maliq & D’Essentials, as well as Diskoria, Frau, The Adams, The Sigit, Kunto Aji, and White Shoes & The Couples Company, to name a few.

Bali’s Joyland Festival is also scheduled to feature collaborations with Rave Pasar (described by the organizer as an initiative of multidisciplinary, contemporary nightclubs), stand-up comedian Adjis Doaibu from Jakarta’s Standup Indo, and Alexander Matius from Jakarta-based alternative cinema cafe Kinosaurus and FLIX Cinema.

All in all, Joyland Festival Bali offers a variety of entertainment forms from music concerts, film screenings, creative workshops, comedy shows, to night markets.

In accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols, those who wish to watch the festival live will be required to be fully vaccinated, don face masks, get body temperature checked prior to entering, and follow social distancing rules.

Daily tickets can be purchased for IDR200,000 (US$14) for early entry, while regular tickets can be purchased at IDR250,000 (US$17). A three-day pass is available for IDR550,000 (US$38) for early entry and IDR650,000 (US$45) for regular entry. If you purchase the early entry tickets, you will be required to enter the festival before 3pm each day.
