1. SEMINYAK: Get some goodies at Pasar Pasaran
The Bali creative community is coming together this weekend to put some of their best stuff on display—and up for purchase. Pasar Pasaran, a bi-annual artsy crafty market featuring local merchants that will be running this weekend at Uma Seminyak and will be celebrating the grand opening of their self-proclaimed ‘tiny’ showroom, Toko Pasar-Pasaran. Browsing through their Instagram, they’ll certainly have some cool vendors, selling anything from prints to textiles to homewares—the market has been touted for its huge variety of stuff. They’ve also got a musical line-up ready so you don’t have to mingle, browse, and shop in silence!
When: Saturday, August 6 to Sunday, August 7, 3pm-10pm
Where: Uma Seminyak, Jl. Kayu Cendana no. 1
2. BATU BELIG: Bollywood boogie
If theme parties are the sorts of things that give you life, then you’re in luck because La Laguna (one of our favorite party venues) is hosting a Bollywood party on Saturday. You can be damn sure it’s going to be colorful, whimsical, and dizzying. Oh, and the venue has been advertising that the top five best dressed will be getting jumbo champagne—#goals, anyone?
When: Friday, August 5, 8pm til late
Where: La Laguna, Jl. Batu Belig
3. SEMINYAK: Black tie it up with ‘Bali high society’ for some good causes
We love the sand between our toes and the wind in our hair, but sometimes, we just want to get dressed up. What better reason to throw on a fancy dress for the ladies and a black tie for the men, than to raise money for local charities? Proceeds for the event will go to the admirable Bali Children Foundation, ANAK ANAK HARAPAN, and Yayasan Samaritania. Tickets can be purchased for Rp 2.5 million through Jemme Jewellery, Yayasan Bali Kids or Bali Children Foundation Kerobokan office, or online. It shouldn’t be your motivation for going, but a grand prize Jemme Bali necklace will be going out to one lucky person.
When: Saturday, August 6
Where: Alila Resort Seminyak
4. LEGIAN: Ubud Village Jazz Fest pre-event
The Ubud Village Jazz Festival won’t be officially kicking off until the 12th of August at the jungle town’s artsy watering hole, Arma, but people in South Bali can get a sneak peak and special preview at Double-Six Rooftop for a special pre-event featuring East West Jazz Ensemble with Dian Pratiwi and superstar jazz saxophonist Uwe Plath. Last year’s event was swinging, so we don’t expect anything less from the festival, which has big amongst jazz aficionados across Southeast Asia ever since its launch in 2013.
When: Saturday, August 6
Where: Double-Six Rooftop, Legian
