Bali’s food scene has it all from scrumptious street eats to swanky fine dining and everything in between.

But the bar is being raised even higher for the luxe side of things now that Michelin-starred Chef Luca Fantin has chosen to launch his second Il Ristorante in Bali.

Starting earlier this May, Fantin opened up shop at Uluwatu’s Bulgari Resort Bali, with resident Head Chef Fabrizio Crocetta in command of the kitchen.

As with the smashingly successful original Il Ristorante in Toyko’s Bulgari Ginza Tower, which opened back in 2007, Fantin brings his heritage to play featuring an Italian menu with a contemporary spin.

Fantin’s signature dishes like squid ink gnocchi with raw cuttlefish, cold spaghetti with caviar, and wagyu beef eggplant will be on the Bali menu, but diehard fans can apparently expect some surprises with new original items adapting to local ingredients and produce in Bali.

Thankfully the wine list isn’t limited to just the local stuff though–Il Ristorante boasts over 200 bottles of predominantly Italian wine.

There’s just 36 seats, so planning ahead is essential if Il Ristorante is on your ‘to-taste’ list. Prepare to spend big for Bali and mind the dress code.
