Foodies should be delighted to learn that a new food festival is coming to Bali’s Jimbaran area this week.

The Beach Food Euphoria Festival will run at Kedonganan Beach from July 21 to 22.

A project of the state-run Tourism Institute (STP), the festival will promote food local to the area, says STP Nusa Dua Bali head Dewa Gede Ngurah Byomantara.

Kedonganan, a fishing village near the airport, sits on the northern end of Jimbaran Bay and is known for its fresh seafood.

The beach is home to the Jimbaran Fish Market and is dotted with seafood warungs, which will offer a 30 percent discount to festival-goers, says Byomantara.

Showcasing Balinese culture, the festival will be enlivened by a food competition, flair bartending, fruit carving, live music and dances, games, and an LED water drum.

To further promote sustainability at the festival, sea turtle hatchlings will be released at the beach, he added.

“We hope this will become an annual festival. This inaugural event will hopefully get a positive response.”
