5 fun things to do in Bali this weekend (July 15-17)

1. BUKIT JIMBARAN: Dance digital at GWK

Put on your festival digs and groove at the beautiful outdoor Jimbaran GWK venue this week for the inaugural Viral Fest Asia. The new festival will feature music and video content from around the continent under the theme “Celebrate Asia.” Live concerts, musicians, digital talents, social media celebs, 3D projection mapping, light calligraphy, EDM party, and fireworks are all on the docket.

2. DENPASAR: Dedicate your festival-going to a good cause at TrashStock Festival

As its name suggests, TrashStock Festival is eco-friendly and all about helping the local community. The second annual festival runs July 16-17 at Taman Baca Kesiman in Denpasar and will offer a variety of inspiring bands and musicians, as well as emerging artists. Keeping its not-for-profit concept, all proceeds will be donated to IDEP Foundation’s comic book project, whig is about the trash and chemical river pollution, as well as to Bapak Budi Susila, a teacher and independent artist who educates children to create inspiring works out of recycled plastic.

3. UBUD: Laugh your guts out at Ubud comedy event

Trips to Ubud can get a bit heavy with all that soul-searching and meditative yoga business, so make sure you get some laughter in this weekend at the centrally located BetelNut for the “Ubud Comedy Extravaganza.” Performances from a series of international artists along with some of Ubud’s own improv comedy outfit, the Fearsome Foursme, is really all you need for a sidesplitting Saturday night.

4. CANGGU: Bask in the best of Canggu’s street art

Canggu’s got some of the coolest street art around Bali. This week’s Tropica Festival, a street art extravaganza, is a great opportunity to get a closer look and meet some of the local artists behind some of the iconic murals you’ve seen while scooting through the Gu.
