In the mood for some ramen? Just in case you missed it, there’s a new ramen place making the buzz around town, offering fresh handmade noodles on the daily, rich-tasting ramen broth and some delightful cocktails.
Located on Jl. Pantai Berawa in Canggu, 101 Ramen Yakitori Bar first opened its doors in mid-February, and is now operating from 5pm daily with limited seating. The bar has got the basics, such as the 101 Tonkotsu Ramen (IDR90K), a 12-hour pork broth served with nori, bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, eggs, scallions, and grilled chashu pork. There’s even an option for the vegan among us in Vegan Coconut Ramen (IDR70K), which is a chili lemongrass coconut broth served with shiitake mushrooms, tempe, and coriander.
No ramen meal is complete without side dishes and 101 has some intriguing selections in the realm of gyoza/dumplings/potstickers offerings, such as the Sichuan Spiced Pork Dumplings (IDR45K) and the Chili Prawn & Pork Pot Stickers (IDR55K). We’re drooling at the thought of dipping ‘em in chili oil.
With the name itself suggesting that the bar specializes in yakitori, diners can choose different grilled varieties served on a stick such as the Mushroom-Leek-Tare (IDR40K) combo for those who don’t eat meat, and the Pork Belly-Sambal-Pickled Chili (IDR45K) option.
If you’re thinking cocktails would be great to go with your hot, flavorful ramen, then 101 is just the right place for y’all ‘cause it has nine different alcoholic mixed drinks you can choose off of the menu. There’s Honey Highball (IDR110K), consisting of naked grouse blended malt, honey, ocha tea, and apparently CO2; and the Roku G&T (IDR120K), which mixes roku gin, broken english tonic water, and orange perfume. Other cocktails are well within the same price range.
With its modest space, it’s probably best to book your seats before you visit. Will this be your next dinner spot the next time you’re in the area? Let us know your verdict in the comments or on our social media pages.
