As Dazzling Cafe closed its doors in orchardgateway, it opened another one at Robertson Quay this month. A new concept called Botany, the casual eatery takes its menu of Western-Asian fusion to the brunch crowd by the river with a bounty of locally-sourced, farm-to-table ingredients.

Just like its neighbors, its vibe here is chill, especially on weekend afternoons. The high ceiling, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and white marble walls make it a brightly-lit space to relax in, with indoor and alfresco seating that transform from daytime leisure to evening romance, warmed by strings of fairy lights.

The menu takes a wholesome spin, offering salads, soups, pastas, and desserts for the more health-conscious among us, padded with familiar Asian flavors in dishes like Granny’s Chicken Congee ($12), laksa spaghetti ($22), otah chips ($13), and a mapo tofu rice bowl made with plant-based “meat” by Impossible Foods.

For something heartier, the grilled chicken comes with Balinese salsa ($18), while uni capellini ($28) gets the truffle treatment, and a 250g slab of grass-fed ribeye steak from Australia goes for $28. Other gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options are also available on the menu, which makes a concerted effort to stay away from MSG and preservatives, and serve organic pastas and wines.

If you were somewhat devastated by the loss of Dazzling Cafe’s classic thick toast desserts, take heart by the fact that you’ll be able to find the honey toasts here in flavors like banana chocolate and strawberry, as well as limited edition creations like avocado chocolate and acai berry.
