Friday, Jan 18

Artwalk Little India

Set to the theme of “Image and Sound of Fragrance”, the multi-disciplinary arts festival returns to Little India with highlights like a new exhibition at UltraSuperNew Gallery, more murals scattered around the neighborhood, and an extended line-up over 16 days, including theatre performances, storytelling sessions, workshops, and trails.

Until Feb 2; with programs on Fridays and Saturdays 6pm-9:30pm at Little India. Free.

Back to the Future

The freshly renovated hotel collaborates with Intersections Gallery for this exhibition, held in conjunction with Singapore Art Week, to display works by Burmese contemporary artists Wunna Aung and Thu Myat. Using art as a time travel machine, the showcase explores Burma’s historical and traditional past, and the transformation it’s going through with modernization.

Beyond Sausage Hot Dog Truck

Following Grand Hyatt Singapore’s plant-based food launches last year, this food truck takes over the hotel’s driveway for a weekend to cook up Beyond Sausage hot dogs that are gluten and soy free, made of peas, fava beans, rice, beet, and coconut oil.

Dahlia Dreams

Blooming with more than 100 varieties of dahlias, the floral display features pavilions, rotating water wheels, red lanterns, and more.

DigiMuse Presents

This edition of DigiMuse Presents delves into the combination of art, culture, and technology through immersive reality, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing.

M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2019: Still Waters

The annual festival of theatre, dance, and visual arts presented by local and international artists returns, curated around the theme “Still Waters”, which was inspired by a performance art piece by Aussie-based Singaporean artist Suzann Victor.

Noise Mayhem: Art Innovators in the Digital Age

Hear from multi-disciplinary artists Brian Gothong Tan and Amanda Tan as they share how they incorporate digital technology in the craft.

The Splendour of Spring

The CBD gets auspicious with a roving God of Fortune (geomancer and numerologist Master Bro Alec Chia), zodiac sign installations at the Forecast Your Future exhibition, and a lion dance performance on Feb 12.

Zander Ng x The Clifford Pier

In one of his many appearances helming the kitchen since he won Singapore’s first MasterChef title, Zander Ng cooks up heritage dishes at The Clifford Pier, with eight creations as an homage to the cuisines he grew up with.

Saturday, Jan 19

Aliwal Urban Art Festival

This year’s festival of urban art and subculture brings together artists, musicians, dancers, and street art enthusiasts for one evening. Highlights include Kult Studio and Gallery’s new exhibition, A Sign of the Times, music performances by the likes of Sun Eater, Froya, and Izat Ibrahim, a street art walking tour of Kampong Glam, live graffiti painting demonstrations, hip hop dance showcases, workshops, a streetwear and art market, and loads more.

4pm-late at Aliwal Arts Centre. Free.

Avry Turns 1

To celebrate its one year anniversary, the nightclub is bringing in guest DJ SMTH and Instagram personality Chailee Son for a night of hip hop and trap.

11pm-late at Avry. Men $35, women $20, includes one drink.

Kelab Ma11am

To kick off Dawn Ng’s performance piece “11” at Telok Ayer Arts Club, this event features 11 DJs spinning 11 hours’ worth of music, with an $11 menu and beats by the likes of KFC, Ginette Chittick, Rah, Shigeki, and more.

11am-11pm at Telok Ayer Arts Club. Free.

Singapore Art Week

The seventh edition of this visual arts festival takes over the Civic District with site-specific installations, as well as numerous shows, artworks, talks, exhibitions, art trails, food villages and more across Bras Basah, Bugis, Jalan Besar, Little India, Gillman Barracks, and other neighborhoods.

Sunday, Jan 20

EarthFest

The green festival’s fourth edition features new vendors, guest speaks, performers, and more, with 130 stalls across Marina Barrage and themes like zero waste and minimalism lifestyles.
