Be it fistfighting in the gulags of Call of Duty: Warzone or terraforming your personal island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons; this quarantine period has got us gaming more than ever. And if you’re a nube, there’s really no better time than now to get into gaming. Wouldn’t you agree? Here are a few games that can make the hours fly by.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

One game series that has got legions of players hooked for years is Sid Meier’s Civilization, with the latest edition being Civilization VI, or CIV VI (which is now free until 28 May), with the latest one being Civilization VI, or CIV VI. While it may look daunting and complex at first, it becomes an absolute time sink once you get into it.

The experience has been refined over two decades of gameplay; culminating in a streamlined and addicting game. In CIV IV, you are at the helm of a civilization of your choice. There are over 40 civilizations to choose from and it’s up to you to guide your people to prosperity and victory.

There are many paths to victory; you can win through conquests, through a scientific victory or through a cultural victory. Players start in the ancient era and progress through time. No two games will be alike, as the map will be randomly generated along with the civilizations you will encounter on your journey. The replayability of Sid Meier’s Civilization is what keeps players coming back for more.

Minecraft RTX

If creativity is more your thing, perhaps it’s time to get back into Minecraft. Minecraft recently released a version of the game called Minecraft RTX. This version of Minecraft utilizes ray tracing technology developed by Nvidia — which means better graphics!

The latest version transforms Minecraft from a blocky, pixelated landscape to a vibrant and realistic world; complemented by stunning visual and lighting effects. You could spend hours upon hours creating and transforming the world. Do note that you would need a RTX enabled graphics card to run Minecraft RTX.

We have to admit playing Minecraft RTX makes us a little nostalgic for the blocks and bombs version of our youth. Oops, did we just show our age?

Call of Duty: Warzone

Lastly, the battle royale craze has yet to stop, with the latest addition being Call of Duty: Warzone. This free-to-play CoD game mode pits 150 players against each other in a single map, with the last team standing crowned the victor. With that many players in a single game, it can get claustrophobic. Players parachute down onto the map, with people constantly fighting over the best gear and loot.

To have any chance of winning in this game, you have to be quick and cunning. You don’t want your gear to let you down. While the game itself is quite accessible, to be successful you have to give yourself every advantage you can get.

If you’re going to be spending this time indoors gaming, you should do so with the best equipment possible. Thankfully, you don’t have to know how to build computers to have a good gaming setup. Companies like Razer produce complete high performance desktops and laptops for gamers to enjoy without hassle.

Razer’s latest Blade 15 is a good mid range gaming laptop, boasting a sleek design, 15-inch full HD display and enough performance to play any modern triple-A games. Perhaps you want to run the latest RTX enabled games? Then you’d need an RTX-enabled machine (duh!) and the Blade 15 is a great choice.

Let’s not forget about those peripherals to go along with your computer, now shall we? Razer has you covered, with gaming-optimized keyboards, mice and mouse mats. These give you a great edge over the competition, as they’re known for being super precise. The Razer Blackwidow Lite will ensure that you won’t miss a beat while staying silent. To pair your keyboard, the Razer DeathAdder Essential has all the features you’d want in a gaming mouse that is designed to fit all hand sizes.

With all these gaming goodies you can spend less time worrying about your gear and more time in the game.
