A very, very lucky migrant worker will toil and sweat in Singapore no longer, for he just scored the prize of his lifetime — a S$2.3 million (US$1.7 million) lottery jackpot.

A viral post on Facebook showed the man looking only slightly joyous with his winning lottery ticket in the Singapore Sweep, in which he scored the first prize from a draw on Sept 6. The newly minted millionaire is said to be an Indian national by the name of Karuppaiah Gobinath working in Singapore — he withdrew his highly enviable cheque on Sept 13.

But really though, we’d be smiling a whole lot wider if we were the ones who just became more than $2 million richer.

That’s some superb spoils for a $3 ticket. Not that we’re endorsing gambling or anything, but here’s how you can try your luck at getting winner winner chicken dinner.

The last time a migrant worker scored the same top prize was in 2015. A Filipino domestic worker only identified as Len scored the $2.3 million prize — but sadly, she was accused of stealing the winning ticket. After she was cleared of the allegations, she continued working as a maid for her Singaporean employers despite being a multi-millionaire.
