Truly, youth is wasted on the young. A youth featured on youth oriented-site Youth.SG was subjected to a phenomenal wave of criticism for her bellyaching anecdote that consisted of highly trivial frustrations. In other words, this young lady appeared to be seriously traumatized by first world problems.
All the hallmarks were there. In a Youth.SG Facebook post yesterday, a 19-year-old student carped about the quote, unquote problems she faced as a young lady planning to go on a holiday abroad with friends.
The earth-shattering complications were apparently bad enough for her to discourage her peers from enjoying some time overseas after graduation. Oh, the humanity! Some of the issues she faced:
- Convincing her parents to let her go on the trip
- Gathering enough money for the holiday
- Finding friends who won’t change their mind about the trip at the last-minute
- The inconvenience of sharing a single portable Wi-Fi router among friends
- Google Maps not working properly
- The biggest challenge? Waking up early. “In a country like Japan, where a bus that comes at 5.01pm is gone by 5.02pm, being just a minute late would require us to change a whole day of plans.”
If she was distressed enough by those little bothers, welp, let’s just say that life ain’t going to be a smooth ride for her. Folks were in complete disbelief at the young lady’s seeming incapacity in dealing with trivial burdens and the unwillingness to adapt.
